The effect of diesel pilot injection pressure on engine performance and emissions was investigated in a hydrogen-diesel dual fuel engine. Hydrogen was injected at the intake manifold with an injection pressure of 0.8MPa at fixed injection timing of -210oCA aTDC. Diesel was injected directly into the cylinder with various injection pressure. It is considered that diesel premixed combustion in the first stage was increased and hydrogen lean premixed combustion was decreased with increased diesel injection pressure. IMEP was increased with decreased injection pressure of diesel even though the diesel premixed combustion in the first stage was decreased. It was due to an increase in the combustion efficiency of hydrogen at lower pilot injection pressure.
